Tesla Cybertruck: already 146,000 reservations, so what?

Last Thursday, Tesla unveiled its Cybertruck, an electric pickup with a futuristic look and a range of 800 km. The price of the vehicle starts at $ 39,900, and can go up to $ 69,900 depending on the engine. Performance and prices which seem to attract consumers, since nearly 150,000 orders have already been placed. But is this figure really so dizzying or…?

The design of the Cybertruck, the new electric vehicle that Tesla presented, made a lot of talk this week. There are those who find it innovative and super futuristic, and those who hate it and compare it to a car from an old video game, at a time when the small capacities of machines did not allow to exceed fifty polygons. Despite everything, the Cybertruck currently seems to be successful. On Twitter, Elon Musk indicates that 146,000 orders for the vehicle have already been made.

THE CYBERTRUCK “COULD” BRING OVER $ 8 BILLION TO TESLA

The number of Cybertrucks reserved seems significant, especially in such a short time. But it may not be that important after all. Because for now, Tesla only asks its customers to deposit a deposit of 100 dollars. We are far from the 39,900 dollars that the vehicle costs. In addition, the 100 dollars payable by customers interested in the Cybertruck are fully refundable. Finally and by way of comparison, when the Model 3 pre-sales started, it was necessary to make a transfer of 1000 dollars… And more than 232,000 orders had been made from day one.

Elon Musk says that only 17% of customers have selected Cybertruck's cheapest model, the one with a single engine and which is priced at $ 39,900. The twin-engine version at $ 49,900 was chosen by 42% of consumers, while the most expensive of all, those at $ 69,900, seems to be successful, with more than 41% of pre-orders. All these cumulative sales could thus bring more than 8 billion dollars to Tesla. But this is ultimately a very theoretical figure. During the pre-sales of the Model 3, the manufacturer had finally had to reimburse a large sum to its customers, disappointed by the delivery times and production delays. We can bet that Tesla will have learned from its mistakes and that the manufacturer will succeed in honoring its orders in 2021, the year in which the Cybertruck must finally make its appearance on the roads around the world.
