Tesla Cybertruck: Elon Musk explains (roughly) why the glass didn't hold up

The window of the Cybertruck, which could not withstand the impact of a pétanque ball, is causing a stir. Elon Musk justified this hazard of the live.

Last Thursday, at a Surrealist talk that aired Friday morning for us (due to jet lag), Tesla unveiled its Cybertruck. This is its very first 100% electric pickup, a vehicle that is already enjoying great success in terms of reservations. Still, we can't say that the presentation went well: while Elon Musk praised the extreme strength of the Cybertruck, a simple pétanque ball was enough to make the billionaire lie. This made him say that there was "room for improvement".

Shortly after this live hazard, Elon Musk immediately proved, by a video posted on Twitter, that the glass is indeed able to withstand a pétanque ball. He put it back on November 25 with a slightly more precise explanation: it was the accumulation of impacts that would have got the better of the Cybertruck.

ELON MUSK COMES BACK ON THE BROKEN CYBERTRUCK AGAIN

Before being targeted by a pétanque ball, the Cybertruck received a hammer blow from Franz von Holzhausen, the man in charge of the design. Carrying out the strength tests one after the other would have weakened the door glass, which is supposed to withstand impacts (even from bullets). We do qualify the fiasco: the pétanque ball did not shatter the window and did not finish its course in the cockpit.

Responding to a netizen, Elon Musk explained, “The impact of the hammer on the door weakened the glass, which is why the metal ball did not bounce back. We shou

ld have thrown the ball at the glass, and then hit the door with the hammer. Next time… ”This does not say why the rear window did not resist much more than the one at the front, while the rear door did not receive a hammer blow (live, all the time. less).
