The Californian brand's first electric pickup, the Tesla Cybertruck was officially presented on Friday, November 22 in Los Angeles, California.

The least that can be said is that the Cybertruck's design leaves no one indifferent. Tesla’s goal was to make a vehicle that stands out from the competition, it’s successful! On the aesthetics, everyone will have their opinion on this design cut with the billhook and particularly raw. Almost 6 meters long and 1.90 m high, this pick-up is on the notch of the star of the category, the Ford F-150. However, only one size is offered, with its rivals having many configurations.

But it's not just an original object, Tesla praising the strength of his machine. This ultra-strong steel "exoskeleton" is said to be far more durable than its rival, and even bulletproof. Its “transparent metal” composite glazing is also designed for greater strength than the competition.

Performance and Capabilities

Three versions make up the initial Tesla Cybertruck catalog. The access variant has a rear engine, so only two-wheel drive, with power and torque not mentioned. It would, however, be able to shoot 0-100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 177 km / h. The second twin-engine version will be four-wheel drive. It lowers acceleration to 4.5 seconds, its Vmax being increased to 193 km / h. Finally, the sportiest of electric pickups moves via three motors, for a 0-100 km / h in 3 seconds, and gives a maximum speed of 209 km / h.

Utility above all, the Cybertruck can tow from 3.400 to 6.350 kg depending on the version. Its nearly two-meter bucket can transport objects weighing up to 1,590 kg. Off-road, the air suspension pick-up raises its ground clearance up to 40 cm, its angle of attack and flight being 35 and 26 degrees respectively.

Cybertruck battery and autonomy

Just like the performance, little detail about the packs on board the pick-up. We only know the three versions running the range will have very different autonomy, which is probably adapted capacities. The single-engine Cybertruck will have 400 km of autonomy, the two-engine version of 484 km, the very sporty three-engine promising more than 800 km. The cells should however be identical to the Model 3.

Price and marketing of the Tesla Cybertruck

The pickup from Elon Musk's company will not be delivered until the end of 2021. North America is the priority target, but the French website making the model available, it suggests availability in Europe and France.
